20. Royal Military Academy
Arch. Henri MAQUET, 1895-1913
SATURDAY 05 & SUNDAY 06 OCTOBER 2024
Time : 45 min
Originally located on Rue de Namur and then on the site of the La Cambre Abbey, today the Royal Military Academy occupies a huge complex next to the Cinquantenaire Park. Completed in 1913, the main building was designed by Henri Maquet, official architect to the King, in a Neoclassical style inspired by French edifices. Intended to extol the glory of the armed forces, the interior comprises a series of impressive rooms, proceeding from a monumental entrance hall with its grand marble staircase, a vast chapel with stained-glass windows showing military saints and an immense auditorium, to the Commandants' Gallery which today is used as a meeting room.
These visits are led by Royal Military Academy guides.
PLEASE NOTE: For reasons of security, individual, named reservations are required. The list of visit participants will be shared with the Academy's administrative staff and access will only be granted upon presentation of an ID card/passport. Please arrive a few minutes before the start of your visit to allow for security checks.
